Prayer for 2013

O sacred and adorable Trinity,
 hear our prayers
 on behalf of our holy Father the Pope, our Bishops, our clergy,
and for all that are in authority over us.
Bless, we beseech Thee,
during the coming year, the whole Catholic Church;
 convert heretics and unbelievers;
 soften the hearts of sinners
 so that they may return to Thy friendship;
 give prosperity to our country
 and peace among the nations of the world;
 pour down Thy blessings
 upon our friends, relatives, and acquaintances,
 and upon our enemies, if we have any;
 assist the poor and the sick;
have pity on the souls
of those whom this year has taken from us;
and do Thou be merciful
 to those who during the coming year
 will be summoned before Thy judgment seat.
May all our actions be preceded
 by Thy inspirations and carried on by Thy assistance,
so that all our prayers and works,
 having been begun in Thee,
may likewise be ended through Thee. Amen.

The Gift of Miracles

Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come.  Anne Lamott Hope is the companion of power, and mother of success; for who so hopes strongly has within him the gift of miracles. Samuel Smiles  Explore This Website

Recognize The Possibilities

“Only if you’ve been in the deepest valley can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain.”  Richard Nixon “You do not need to know precisely what is happening, or exactly where it is all going. What you need is to recognize the possibilities and challenges offered by the present moment, and to embrace them with courage, faith and hope.”   Thomas Merton Explore This Website

A Life of Gratitude

To speak gratitude is courteous and pleasant, to enact gratitude is generous and noble, but to live gratitude is to touch Heaven. Johannes A. Gaertner To live a life of gratitude is to open our eyes to the countless ways in which we are supported by the world around us. Such a life provides less space for our suffering because our attention is more balanced. We are more often occupied with noticing what we are given, thanking those who have helped us, and repaying the world in some concrete way for what we are receiving. Gregg Krech Explore This Website
