Tiger populations by 2022

Tiger, Tiger, burning bright In the forests of the night, What immortal hand or eye Could frame thy fearful symmetry? ~William Blake~ "According to WWF's plan in helping the remaining tiger population by 2022, their goals are to eradicate threats and create environments where they can thrive.  The main concerns are that 3 subspecies are already extinct. Tiger habitats have shrunk by over 40% in the last decade alone. Today, tigers are limited to only 7% of their historical range. The illegal trade in wild life is the third largest form of organised crime in the world after arms and drugs! Tigers will soon be gone  ....almost gone  forever." (Source: WWF )

Tiger Forum 2010

It is an amazing news with this week's Tiger Summit starting from Nov 21 - Nov 24, hosted by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, an extraordinary global effort,  to organize a workable strategy to save the tiger. It was estimated that today,  fewer than 3,200 tigers remain in the wild of the world, 97% less compared to 100,000 tigers a century ago.  The ultimate fate of saving the tiger population will depend on the solid commitments of the agreed strategies by the 13 tiger range countries' governments. Life perspective

Always remember that you are loved, even when it doesn't seem like it. Believe in yourself and your values. Don't sell out when things go wrong. Don't let anything get you down; always bounce back up. Set goals for your future and never settle for anything less. Realize that there are others in the world with much bigger problems than you. Appreciate the good things in your life, and be thankful for the time you have with your loved ones. Spend more time with your family and friends. Appreciate the simple things in life, and don't get caught up in material things. If you follow that advice you can't go wrong! So the next time you're looking at a situation in your life: Is the cup half empty? Or is the cup half full? Be an optimist and see the cup as being half full. Before long, your attitude will rub off on others. You can make the world a better pl...

The Year of the Tiger

As I have said before how quickly time flies, the year of the tiger - my favourite is nearly gone!!   I must today take this opportunity to write something about it as a tribute to all the endangered lovely Tigers.  Otherwise I would have to wait for another 12 years for the special year of the tiger !!  Just last month it was reported that highest living rare tigers found in the Himalayas.   I was really thrilled when I heard the wonderful news. Mary MacKillop Canonisation

Today is the most suitable time for me to update my blog signifying a new beginning. It is a day we respect and celebrate the canonisation of our first Australian Saint - Mary Mackillop. A day full of emotional excitement. A day we probably will never see again in our lifetime.  "Mary MacKillop was born in 1842 and co-founded the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart , in Penola, in 1886. She devoted much of her life to helping disadvantaged children get an education. Her canonisation will occur in St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican and be performed by the Pope."  (The Advertiser, Dec 2009) Source: http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/specials/mary-mackillop
