Prayer for 2013

O sacred and adorable Trinity,  hear our prayers  on behalf of our holy Father the Pope, our Bishops, our clergy, and for all that are in authority over us. Bless, we beseech Thee, during the coming year, the whole Catholic Church;  convert heretics and unbelievers;  soften the hearts of sinners  so that they may return to Thy friendship;  give prosperity to our country  and peace among the nations of the world;  pour down Thy blessings  upon our friends, relatives, and acquaintances,  and upon our enemies, if we have any;  assist the poor and the sick; have pity on the souls of those whom this year has taken from us; and do Thou be merciful  to those who during the coming year  will be summoned before Thy judgment seat. May all our actions be preceded  by Thy inspirations and carried on by Thy assistance, so that all our prayers and works,  having been begun in Thee, may likewise be ended through Thee. Unite & Pray

While reading my textbook in preparation for my upcoming examination;  I found the Mary MacKillop Prayer Bookmark.   In the spirit of Mary Mackillop, shall we unite and pray  the Prayer of the Church – the People of God. "God of compassion, God of all people, we praise you for your servant,  Mary MacKillop,  who gave her life to serve you in the poor and oppressed. As she is honoured in our world,  may we continue to learn to share her vision. Help us to recognize, as she did, that the poor of our time  will hear the gospel in the way we serve them.  Be with us as we strive to follow her and carry out our mission of service and care."   Amen  _________________________________________

Mary MacKillop Canonisation

Today is the most suitable time for me to update my blog signifying a new beginning. It is a day we respect and celebrate the canonisation of our first Australian Saint - Mary Mackillop. A day full of emotional excitement. A day we probably will never see again in our lifetime.  "Mary MacKillop was born in 1842 and co-founded the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart , in Penola, in 1886. She devoted much of her life to helping disadvantaged children get an education. Her canonisation will occur in St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican and be performed by the Pope."  (The Advertiser, Dec 2009) Source: http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/specials/mary-mackillop
